JHU calls for donations for injured soldiers

The JHU has send out a call to the public for donations to 100 soldiers injured in fighting in Pooneryn, who are presently being treated at several hospitals in Colombo.Of them, 70 in serious condition have been admitted to Colombo South General Hospital at Kalubowila.A few others are receiving treatment at Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.JHU propaganda secretary Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe, in a statement, said the donations could be handed over to the party's office at Kirulapone.The donations requested - all adequate for 100 persons - are: sarongs, T-shirts, towels, footwear, razors, toothbrushes, soap, biscuits, chocolates, oranges and apples.The call for donation comes at a time when the government had secured passage of a Rs. 30 billion supplementary estimate, on top of the Rs. 166 defence expenditure for 2008.
